This is the fourth set of general questions of IELTS Speaking Part 1 with example answers. Practicing the general questions over and over again can make this possible.   • Do you enjoy playing any games?
  • Example answer: Yes, I do. In fact, I consider myself an active sportsperson.
  • What kind of games do you play?
  • Example answer: I usually play football. Sometimes I play basketball and hockey with my friends too.
  • Do you think adults should play games?
  • Example answer: Well, I think they should. But it depends on their health. Some adult people may have serious health problems. For them, it can be difficult to play. But for those who have a sound health, playing games can be beneficial.
  • What do children learn from games?
  • Example answer: Children learn different kinds of skills from games such as group-work, leadership, focusing, determination and patience.
  • What kind of games did you play when you were a child?
  • Example answer: In my childhood, I played hide and seek. I also played the blindfold game and water polo.
  • What games are popular in your country today?
  • Example answer: At present football is the most popular game in my country. Cricket is also becoming popular day by day.
  • What kinds of games were popular when you were young?
  • Example answer: Football was a popular game when I was young. It is still a popular game. Hockey was another popular game in childhood. But nowadays it is not so popular.
  • Do you think mental games like chess are good for you?
  • Example answer: Well, chess surely helps the human brain. There is no doubt about it. But it can be little hazardous for human health as it does not require a person to move. It may make us lazy.
  • Why do young generations of the present age have a negative attitude towards outdoor games?
  • Example answer: I think it is the progression of technology which is directly responsible for this. Young people of present age lack social communication skills due to the invention of online social networking and online games. They spend more time there than playing outdoor games.

  • Do you enjoy watching movies?
  • Example answer: Yes, I do. It is one of my favorite hobbies.
  • What’s your favorite film?
  • Example answer: It’s actually very difficult to tell. I actually love watching Hollywood movies. But if I have to choose one movie, I am going to choose Robert Wise’s 1965 classic “The Sound of Music”.
  • Who are your favorite actors?
  • Example answer: At present my favorite actors are Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, and Viola Davis.
  • How often do you watch films?
  • Example answer: I watch films every weekend. After sundown, I grab some popcorn and Pepsi and I watch a movie in my home theatre.
  • Do you think watching movies help us in learning?
  • Example answer: Yes, I think so. If you watch a movie about a country you do not know, you can learn about the country. Documentaries can immensely help any student to learn about different matters of the world, even the universe.
  • Is watching movie a popular pastime in your country?
  • Example answer: Yes, watching movie is a very popular pastime in my country. People like to go to the cinema/ movie theatre to watch newly released box-office hits on their weekends.

Music

  • Do you like music?
  • Example answer: Yes, I like music a lot.
  • What kind of music do you like?
  • Example answer: I like classical music, hip-hop, RnBs, and opera.
  • When do you usually listen to music?
  • Example answer: Most of the time I listen to music in my free time. Sometimes I listen to music when I am sad.
  • What kind of music did you like when you were younger?
  • Example answer: When I was young I liked to listen to the theme music from different cartoons. I also listened to songs from Sesame Street, the classic puppet show.
  • What kind of music is popular in your country?
  • Example answer: In my country, people like to listen to movie songs and classical music. Young generations like to listen to hip-hop and RnB.
  • Do you play any musical instruments?
  • Example answer: No, I can’t play any instrument at the moment. But when I was a student of A level, I could play the violin. Now I’ve forgotten about it, unfortunately.
  • Do you wish you could play any musical instruments?
  • Example answer: Yes, I wish I could. It would really help me to cast away some stress of work.
  • Which is your favorite instrument?
  • Example answer: My most favorite instrument is the piano. I really like the sounds a piano can create.
